When Miley Cyrus announced her twerking retirement earlier this year, we wondered what she would do without her signature dance move. Even though it almost got her thrown in jail, that's not the reason she's giving it up! Instead, the "Wrecking Ball" singer thinks twerking is over — and is obsessed with a new dance, the Nae Nae.
While appearing on the Australian talk show Sunrise, the singer explained, "Twerking seems so yesterday."
When Miley's dancers, the LA Bakers, taught her how to Nae Nae, she was instantly obsessed. (The move first appeared in We Are Toonz's "Drop That NaeNae" earlier this year.)
While she looks a little silly rocking out, that's what we thought about twerking when we first saw her in her music video for "We Can't Stop." However, the singer admits that the dance move hasn't really caught on with her Smilers yet.
“I try to do it at my shows, and no one’s really doing it back at me," she admitted.
We're sure it will only take a little while for that to happen!
