After Selena Gomez started dating Justin Bieber in 2011, some Beliebers lobbed death threats andmean insults in her direction. Those scary days are over, but Selena is still dealing with her fair share of bullies — and now, she fights back. After a fan made a rude comment on Instagram, Selena couldn't keep quiet.
Although the original comment and account have since been deleted, the commenter allegedly wished that Selena and her family would get cancer. She wrote a comment to the user, and posted a screenshot of her response, calling the bully's actions "absurd" and "distasteful."
Selena says that she normally doesn't respond to comments about her life, but this time was different.
"Honestly, I don't speak up much because it's simply always taken out of context," she wrote. "But I don't take bullying well. I have seen too much to not say anything."
We love the way that Selena stood up for herself. Her words were definitely critical, but she responded calmly and with kindness. Plus, it's so sweet that Selena called her bully "beautiful." That is such a mature move. You go, Selena!
